In kurzer Zeit haben sich die Unruhen gegen die Preis erhöhungen zu einer gesellschaftlichen Rebellion entwickelt. Seitdem hat die Regierung gnadenlose Unterdrückung walten lassen. Viele Städte ähne ln Kriegsgebieten. Auf der einen Seite greifen regierungsnahe Einheiten da s Volk mit Waffen und Panzertruppen an\; auf der anderen Seite setzen Rebe llen alles in Brand\, was sie als Symbol ihrer erbärmlichen Lebensbedingu ngen ansehen\, seien es Banken\, staatliche Religionsschulen\, Stadträte. \nAus Angst vor der Weltpresse sperrte die Regierung für einige Tage den Internetzugang. Statt sich selbst in die Verantwortung zu nehmen\, werden die Proteste außenpolitisch heruntergespielt. Es heißt\, tatsächlicher Auslöser sei die Provokation durch ausländische Mächte. Leiter Ali Kham eni und Präsident Hassan Rohani sprechen von einer Verschwörung Saudi-Ar abiens\, Israels und der USA. Gleichzeitig werden Gefangene unter Folter z u Geständnissen gezwungen.
